Create clothing Belt straps/Mudbox part 4

Today I worked more on the pants she will be wearing, after reviewing my drawings I didn't really make it clear what type of shorts she has. After much deliberation, neither jeans nor leather really fit so as she is a kind of desert warrior, I feel that cargo shorts are more fitting.  This will mean however that I will have to create additional pockets separately in Maya then bring them into Mudbox to sculpt.

Create clothing :Hood/Mudbox part 3

I've created the hood for the character along with the charm attachment. I've also imported this into Mudbox so I can see the new changes.

Today I also adjusted the abs slightly and began work on the cut top, which pretty much meant I got to search underboob and compare lol XD. e.g. below

As mentioned about the abs, before I think they didn't look very believable, so I made some adjustments ( the character looked to tense before) making it look natural.

Mudbox part 2

Today I have returned to sculpting the head, I've mainly tweaked parts of the  head such as

-Bringing the ears slightly outward
- Adjusting the nose, make it rounder
- Make the lips thicker and pulling them together
- Adding in slight bags under the eyes
- Creating the eye area
-Improving the chin

I also found an excellent tutorial on creating realistic skin and lips which I will using later. This can be found
here.

Creating clothing:Mask

Whilst I'm sculpting her in Mudbox I've decided that in my spare time I will create a part of the additional clothing, to be later added and sculpted. Today I have created the mask. This is also a great opportunity for me to improve my drawing skills, so I am going to draw the piece of clothing from multiple angles before creating it in Maya. Today is the mask. I originally did not have it smoothed, but decided to add one in order to give it shape.

Mudbox part 1

With the UVing out of the way, I have begun to sculpt Raes in Mudbox. I am particularly taking my time on this part mainly because I still need anatomical knowledge, and I need to get used to using Mudbox. Admittedly it is alot more fun than modelling :) In about 2 hours or so I have sculpted little, trying mainly to provide mass and depth to the torso, ignoring finer detail for a later date. Creating the abs and shape of the lower torso was my first priority, as well as the breasts, I did not want the breasts to appear silicone neither flat, therefore Using my Anatomy for the Artist book, I feel I have created a right size and shape to begin with. As for the abs, after some research I have realized that abdominals on women are not as structured on women. They seem to take a rounder form which I have attempted  to mimic on my character.

UV the body

I have moved on to UVing the body. Unfortunately the file corrupted causing the UV's to completely mess up so I've had to redo the lower half again. So far I think the UV layout tool in Maya is actually pretty good, I thought using Roadkill or another program would be alot better but it seems Maya works just fine. When UVing the upper body I made sure to have the shells split off at the shoulders just as in my concepts the top finishes at the tip of the shoulder. I will pursue the rest of the body as soon as I can so I can start using Mudbox.
